Residential Status [Section 6]

1. Basic issues--The extent of tax liability under the Income Tax Act is dependent upon the residential status irrespective of the nationality, citizenship or domicile of the tax-payer.

The residential status has to be determined for each assessment year.

The residential status is divided into three categories :
